Electric Operation & Control Options

The PowerTrax Pro MX gives you three ways to operate the cover: a wireless key fob with 50-foot range, an illuminated dash-mounted switch, and a manual override crank for emergency use. The motor draws less than 3 amps at peak load and plugs directly into your truck’s auxiliary power port—no hardwiring required. When you press the button, the cover retracts smoothly into the canister at the cab end, taking roughly 30 seconds to fully open.

If the system detects resistance—a forgotten strap, a shifted load, or debris on the rails—it stops instantly and reverses a few inches to prevent damage. That same safety feature protects your hands if you’re reaching into the bed while the cover is closing. We’ve tested the motor assembly through 50,000 cycles in our Arizona facility to verify long-term reliability in heat, dust, and freeze conditions.

Sealed Rail System & Weather Protection
Sizing & fit

Sealed Rail System & Weather Protection

Every PowerTrax Pro MX ships with our spiral-track rail design, which uses overlapping rubber seals at every junction to block water entry. The slats themselves nest together when closed, forming a continuous surface with no gaps for rain or snow to penetrate. We mold each slat from impact-resistant polycarbonate reinforced with an internal aluminum spine, so the cover can support distributed loads up to 500 pounds without flexing.

The canister housing features a built-in drain channel that routes any condensation out through the rear corners of the bed, away from your cargo. Dust seals at the front and rear of each rail prevent grit from reaching the ball-bearing rollers, so the cover continues to glide smoothly even after months of gravel-road driving.

Installation & Truck Bed Compatibility

We designed the PowerTrax Pro MX to install without drilling holes in your truck bed. The system uses a series of heavy-duty clamps that grip the inside of the bed rails, distributing the load across multiple points. Most installers complete the job in under an hour using basic hand tools—a socket set, a tape measure, and a level.

Bed Length & Model Fit

The cover is available in configurations for 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot, and 8-foot beds on Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan full-size trucks. Each kit includes bed-specific hardware and pre-cut rails, so there’s no trimming or guesswork. If you run a bed rack or tonneau clamps, the PowerTrax Pro MX works with most stake-pocket and track-mounted accessories—the canister sits flush against the bulkhead and doesn’t interfere with front-mounted tie-downs. The manual-retract models in the same family share the same rail footprint, making upgrades or swaps straightforward if your needs change down the road.

No more wrestling with a tarp
I used to throw a tarp over my tools every night and strap it down. The PowerTrax Pro MX changed everything—I hit the button from inside the cab, and it's sealed before I even get out. Three months in, zero water leaks, zero issues.

Handles snow and ice without complaint
We had a rough winter in Montana, and this cover never hesitated. I'd brush off the snow, hit the switch, and it retracted every time. The motor has plenty of torque, and the slats don't crack in the cold like my old soft cover did.

Installation was easier than I expected
I'm not the most mechanically inclined, but I got this on my F-250 in about an hour following the instructions. The clamps are beefy, everything lined up, and the wiring was plug-and-play. Looks factory.

Works perfectly with my bed rack
I run a Thule rack in the stake pockets, and the PowerTrax Pro MX didn't interfere at all. The canister sits low enough that I can still use the front tie-downs, and the cover clears the rack crossbars when it's open.

Love the key fob range
I can open the cover from across the parking lot, which is perfect when I'm carrying armfuls of gear. The fob is small enough to clip on my keychain, and the battery has lasted eight months so far with no issues.

Best investment for my work truck
I haul expensive equipment daily, and this cover gives me peace of mind. It locks solid, keeps everything dry, and the matte finish hides the dust and scratches that come with construction sites. Worth every penny.

Good to know

PowerTrax Pro MX Questions

The motor assembly is rated for 50,000 open-close cycles under our lab testing protocol, which translates to decades of typical use—most owners operate the cover two to four times per day. We back the motor with a three-year warranty, and replacement motors are available as a service part if you ever need one down the road.

Yes. Every PowerTrax Pro MX includes a manual override crank stored in a locked compartment on the driver-side rail. If your truck battery is dead or the motor fails, you insert the crank into the access port and turn it to retract or extend the cover by hand. The system takes roughly two minutes to fully open using the crank.

Absolutely. The clamp system is designed to grip over spray-in liners, drop-in liners, and bare truck beds without modification. If you have an unusually thick liner—over half an inch—contact us before ordering so we can confirm fitment and provide any needed spacer hardware.

Minimal upkeep. We recommend rinsing the rails and slats with water every few months to clear dust and road salt, and applying a silicone spray to the ball-bearing tracks once or twice a year. The motor is sealed and maintenance-free. Check the drain ports at the rear of the canister periodically to make sure they're not clogged.

The motor includes an auto-reverse safety feature. If the cover encounters resistance while closing—a forgotten strap, a toolbox corner, or your hand—it stops immediately and reverses a few inches. You'll hear a soft click, and the system resets so you can clear the obstruction and try again.

You can, though we don't recommend it unless you're an experienced installer. The matte polycarbonate surface accepts vinyl wraps and certain paints formulated for plastics, but any coating that traps heat or blocks UV can cause warping over time. If you want a custom color, contact our team—we occasionally offer limited runs of factory-applied finishes for fleet orders.

The PowerTrax Pro MX is rated for evenly distributed loads up to 500 pounds when fully closed and locked. That's enough for snow accumulation, a roof-top tent mounted on crossbars, or light cargo stored on top. Avoid concentrated point loads—don't stand or kneel in one spot, as that can crack individual slats.
